Amazon Basics Gardening Shovel for Digging and Edging, Flat Spade, D-Handle, 47 Inch, Black/Olive

The Amazon Basics 47-Inch Flat Spade Gardening Shovel is built for outdoor tasks like cutting clean garden borders, edging flowerbeds, and turning tough soil. Its flat spade shape and sturdy frame help homeowners tackle routine yard maintenance without needing specialized landscaping gear.

Featuring a welded all-steel construction, this tool is designed for steady strength when working through dense ground. An oversized foot step at the top of the blade gives you a wide, secure surface to step on, adding extra foot power for deeper cuts. The handle uses a poly D-handle shape with TPR overmolding, helping reduce hand fatigue and maintain a solid grip while working.

Because this tool features a flat spade head, it is optimized for digging borders and edging rather than scooping high volumes of loose gravel or mulch. The 47-inch overall length is fixed, so users who prefer shorter handheld trowels or longer handles will need to adapt. Additionally, while the powder coating helps prevent rust and allows for quick wipe downs, storing it clean and dry remains important for long-term care.

Verdict: This flat spade is a dependable option for gardeners and homeowners looking to establish sharp flowerbed lines and turn dense dirt. Its durable steel body and comfortable grip make it a practical addition to any yard care routine.
