Champion Power Equipment 3-Inch Portable Chipper-Shredder with Collection Bag

The Champion Power Equipment 3-Inch Portable Chipper-Shredder handles heavy yard waste by turning fallen branches, leaves, and shrubbery into manageable mulch. Powered by a 224cc 4-stroke OHV engine, it suits homeowners who need to clear tree trimmings and garden debris across larger outdoor spaces without relying on electric cords.

At the heart of the machine is a dual-chute system tailored for different types of yard waste. The primary chipper chute uses hardened steel blades to chop through branches up to 3 inches in diameter. For softer material like leaves and small twigs, the dedicated shredder chute processes debris up to half an inch thick. An included 2-bushel collection bag attaches to catch the processed material directly, keeping your work area tidy and simplifying waste disposal.

Operation and maintenance are straightforward thanks to thoughtful design features. The engine runs on gas with a 0.92-gallon fuel tank and a 0.63-quart oil reservoir. If damp leaves or oversized twigs cause a clog, the built-in rear access clean-out port lets you quickly clear jams without tearing down the entire machine. Its compact overall footprint also makes maneuvering around the yard easier and saves valuable floor space in a garage, shop, or shed.

While the chipper chute handles thick branches, the shredder side is strictly limited to material half an inch or less in diameter. Gas power also means you will need to keep fresh fuel and oil on hand for operation and perform routine 4-stroke engine maintenance over time. Additionally, the listing does not state whether the collection bag features a quick-release mechanism or reinforced stitching.

Verdict: This Champion portable chipper-shredder is a practical choice for property owners who regularly trim trees and clear shrub debris. Its strong 224cc gas engine and dual chutes make short work of yard cleanups up to 3-inch branches. Backed by a 2-year limited warranty and lifetime technical support, it offers reassuring long-term support for home landscaping tasks.
