Dyson Gen5detect Cordless Vacuum, 280AW, 3 Power Modes, Up to 70 Minutes,² Illumination Reveals dust, HEPA Filtration, All Floor Types

The Dyson Gen5detect is a high-powered cordless stick vacuum designed for complete home cleaning across hard floors, carpets, and high areas. Delivering 280AW of suction power and up to 70 minutes of run time, it provides strong cordless performance without requiring you to hold down a trigger. Instead, it relies on a simple push-button power control for continuous operation. It suits households with mixed flooring, shedding pets, and detailed cleaning routines.

Cleaning versatility stems from its two included motor heads and automated power management. The Fluffy Optic cleaner head uses an angled light on hard surfaces, casting visibility onto fine particles that are standard lighting misses. For carpets and general flooring, the Digital Motorbar cleaner head active de-tangles long strands and pet hair. As you move across surfaces, internal sensors monitor debris levels and floor types to adapt suction power automatically.

An integrated LCD screen keeps you informed throughout each session. It displays power mode selection, maintenance alerts, and remaining battery life down to the second. The screen also presents visual bars that expand or shrink based on particle volume, letting you know exactly when an area is clean. To tackle upholstery, stairs, or tight corners, the machine converts to a handheld unit using built-in dusting tools and a tangle-free Hair screw accessory. Air passing through the unit undergoes whole-machine HEPA filtration, capturing 99.99% of particles as small as 0.1 microns, including viruses.

While the feature set is broad, there are trade-offs to keep in mind. The product listing does not state the machine's exact total weight or dustbin capacity, which can affect long sessions depending on your reach and home size. Additionally, relying on continuous digital tracking and automated modes means keeping up with regular filter maintenance and sensor upkeep to maintain top performance.

Verdict: The Dyson Gen5detect is ideal for homeowners who want high suction, real-time dust feedback, and specialized tools for hard floors and pet hair. Its automated suction adjustment and push-button operation make it a strong pick for thorough home cleaning.
