Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine™ Cordless Wet and Dry Vacuum

The Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine is a cordless wet and dry vacuum designed to handle both dry debris and liquid spills across different floor types. Driven by a 900W Hyperdymium digital motor delivering 315 Air Watts of suction, it provides a single cleaning machine for homes with mixed hard floors, carpets, and pets. It suits homeowners who want to eliminate separate mops and dry vacuums while maintaining high air filtration standards.

For dry pickup, the machine features three distinct cleaner heads and smart attachments. The All Floor Cones Sense head illuminates floor dust while preventing long hair from tangling around the brush bar, while the Fluffy Optic head highlights fine particles on hard surfaces. To tackle wet messes, the Submarine 2.0 cleaner head uses hydration, absorption, and extraction to wash hard floors and scrub away dried-on dirt, backed by a Boost mode for stubborn spots. Smart tools, including the Hair screw tool 2.0 and built-in crevice tool, automatically adjust suction power based on the task.

Managing debris and maintaining air quality are core focuses of the design. The CleanCompaktor bin compresses dust inside the canister to hold three times more debris than standard bins, wiping itself clean upon emptying to keep dust and hair from clinging to the interior. An advanced five-stage HEPA filtration system captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.1 microns before expelling clean air. A seven-cell lithium battery provides up to 70 minutes of run time, while an onboard LCD screen and the MyDyson app give real-time updates on performance, software updates, and illumination settings.

While the vacuum offers versatile wet and dry functionality, managing its specialized attachments requires dedicated storage space, and swapping between dry and wet cleaner heads is necessary when switching cleaning tasks. Additionally, configuring certain features like custom illumination control requires linking the unit to the MyDyson smartphone app. The listed coverage is limited to a two-year limited warranty, though it includes lifetime Dyson support.

Verdict: The Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine is a strong choice for busy households with pets and mixed flooring who want powerful dry suction and dedicated hard floor washing in one device. Its high suction power, self-cleaning bin, and filtration make short work of daily household messes.
