Detailed Review
The Makita XAU02ZB 36V telescoping pole saw provides high-reach branch trimming using a 10-inch bar without relying on gas engines. Designed for clearing elevated limbs, it suits homeowners and property maintenance users looking for cordless reach.
Its telescoping shaft extends smooth length adjustments from 9 feet to 13 feet, allowing you to access hard-to-reach branches higher up. The built-in brushless motor generates power equivalent to a 30cc gas engine saw, delivering cutting speeds 20 percent faster than a 31.4cc gas engine model.
When cutting thick or hard branches, an integrated torque boost mode provides extra output to drive through tough wood. Power comes from twin 18V LXT lithium-ion batteries, yielding up to 140 cuts in 4x4 cedar using 5.0Ah packs. A key limitation is that this unit is sold as a tool only, meaning batteries and chargers must be acquired separately if you do not already own compatible Makita LXT gear.
Verdict: This telescoping pole saw is an ideal choice for current Makita 18V battery owners who need gas-equivalent trimming power to manage tall trees. It is less suitable for users looking for a complete kit with included power accessories.
