Polaris ERA 842 Smart Robotic Pool Cleaner, Corded

The Polaris ERA 842 Smart Robotic Pool Cleaner provides automated floor and wall cleaning for inground pools. Designed for pool owners seeking hands-off maintenance, this corded robotic cleaner handles routine debris removal across various pool surfaces without requiring manual vacuuming.

Operation centers around a dedicated mobile app that gives you full control over the cleaning process. From your phone, you can set custom cleaning schedules, start or stop cycles, monitor the active timer, and switch between Floor or Floor/Wall cleaning modes. Dual-traction motors combined with front and back scrubbing brushes allow the unit to scale inground pool walls while scrubbing away stuck-on dirt. Polaris integrates Cyclonic Vacuum Technology, which works to sustain suction power throughout the cycle so dirt is continuously captured into the large-capacity debris canister.

Retrieving and maintaining the unit is straightforward thanks to built-in convenience features. Activating the Easy Lift Removal System sends the vacuum climbing up to the waterline, where it automatically evacuates trapped water so you can lift a significantly lighter unit out of the pool. For cleanup, the debris canister pops out easily to be emptied, shaken, and sprayed down. Polaris also bundles a dedicated transport caddy and a fitted protective cover, making it simple to roll the cleaner to storage and keep it protected from outdoor elements.

While feature-rich, there are a few practical trade-offs to keep in mind. As a corded cleaner, it requires a constant power connection during operation, which means managing the cord during setup and storage. Additionally, while the app offers troubleshooting tools and mode selection, using these features requires a smartphone. The listing also does not specify exact cord length or canister gallon capacity, so pool owners with exceptionally large pools will want to confirm coverage parameters.

Verdict: The Polaris ERA 842 is a well-engineered option for inground pool owners who want comprehensive floor-to-wall cleaning with smart mobile control. Its automated water drainage and included transport accessories make daily maintenance and off-season storage convenient.

A great fit if you:

• Own an inground pool and need thorough cleaning across both the floor and walls.
• Want to schedule, start, and monitor pool vacuum cycles remotely using a smartphone app.
• Value easy pool retrieval and want an included caddy and cover to transport and shield your equipment.

Consider something else if you:

• Prefer a completely cordless pool cleaning solution rather than a corded model.
• Want a basic plug and play cleaner without smart app features or digital controls.
