Detailed Review
The BLACK+DECKER BESTA512CM combines a string trimmer, push mower, and wheeled edger into a single corded outdoor tool. It serves as an all in one lawn care solution for compact yards, saving both money and storage space by replacing three separate tools.
At the core of the tool is a 6.5 amp motor with POWERDRIVE Transmission, reaching speeds up to 8000 RPM to clear dense weeds and grass. The unit snaps into the included MTD100 detachable mower deck to provide a 12-inch cutting width at a 1.6-inch cutting height. An Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) continuously advances the line while running, eliminating the need to manually adjust or bump the head against the ground.
For detail work, rotating the trimmer head transforms the tool into a wheeled edger for shaping borders along walkways. Ergonomic features include an adjustable auxiliary handle and height settings to suit different users, while an integrated cord retention system keeps your power connection secure while moving around the yard.
As a corded 12-inch tool, it requires continuous power access, making reach dependent on your extension cord setup. In addition, the 1.6-inch mowing height is fixed on the deck, so you cannot raise or lower the cut level for varied turf needs. Verdict: This tool is an efficient choice for homeowners with small yards who want a lightweight, multi-purpose tool for routine mowing, edging, and trimming.
