Hoover CleanSlate XL Deep Cleaning Carpet + Upholstery Spot Cleaner Machine

The Hoover CleanSlate XL Spot and Upholstery Cleaning Machine targets localized messes on carpets and furniture, from tracked-in mud to spilled wine. Built as a portable spot cleaner, it provides targeted extraction power to lift liquid spills and embedded dirt without needing a full-sized carpet cleaner. It suits homeowners and pet owners who frequently handle isolated stains and want a quick setup for spot treatment.

Capacity and tool selection are the primary highlights of this machine. The 96 fluid ounce tank minimizes trips to the sink during extended cleaning sessions, allowing you to focus on removing stains rather than repeatedly emptying and refilling water. For broad surfaces like couch cushions or stair treads, the included 7-inch WidePath tool covers ground quickly. For narrow gaps, the TightSpot tool fits into tight crevices, while the Pet Tool targets tough animal messes.

Maintenance after cleaning is often a nuisance with spot extractors, but this model includes a hose rinse tool. By flushing the internal system with fresh water, it clears out residual grime and dirty liquid so the machine stays clean between uses. The package includes a trial bottle of oxy cleaning solution to get started right out of the box, with Hoover recommending its Pet or Everyday liquid formulas for future maintenance.

Trade-offs come down to ongoing supplies and listed specifications. While the trial solution gets you started, keeping the unit running requires purchasing additional Hoover spot solution, such as their Everyday or Pet formulas. Additionally, the listing does not specify details like total unit weight or hose length, which may matter if you plan to carry it up and down stairs frequently.

Verdict: The Hoover CleanSlate XL is a practical choice for anyone seeking a high-capacity portable spot cleaner equipped with specialized tools for carpets and furniture. Its built-in hose rinse tool and generous tank make it a solid option for handling frequent pet accidents or everyday household spills.
