SKIL PWR CORE 40 14-Inch Brushless 40V Lightweight String Trimmer Kit with Twist Load Including 2.5Ah Battery and Auto PWR JUMP Charger - LT4818-10

The Skil LT4818-10 is a cordless 40V string trimmer kit designed for homeowners who want gas-free yard maintenance. Featuring a 14-inch cutting swath, this tool handles grass trimming and lawn edging without tangled power cords or fuel mixing.

Power comes from a digital brushless motor paired with Skil PWR CORE 40 lithium battery technology. The included 2.5Ah battery wraps each cell in cooling material, providing 25 percent longer run time and twice the battery lifespan compared to standard cells. The kit also includes an Auto PWR JUMP charger. Line management is simplified through a Twist Load head, allowing users to insert replacement line and twist it into place, while a dual line bump feed releases extra line by tapping the head on a flat surface.

Weighing in as the lightest in its 40V competitive class, this trimmer is built with weather resistant construction for outdoor durability. However, the kit includes only a single 2.5Ah battery, meaning work must stop while recharging. Additionally, the manufacturer does not specify the exact weight of the trimmer or the diameter of the included line.

Verdict: The Skil PWR CORE 40 string trimmer kit offers a lightweight, hassle-free alternative to gas equipment. It is a solid pick for homeowners seeking efficient line loading and battery cooling technology for routine lawn care.
