BLACK+DECKER 40V MAX 13 in String Trimmer Edger Cordless with Adjustable Telescoping Pole, 2 in 1 Weed Wacker Lawn Edger, Includes Battery and Charger (LST136)

The BLACK+DECKER LST136 is a 2-in-1 cordless string trimmer and lawn edger designed to clear weeds and tidy yard borders. Powered by an included 40V MAX 2.0Ah lithium ion battery, this outdoor tool eliminates the hassle of mixing gas, pulling starter cords, or maneuvering around restrictive electrical extension cords. It suits homeowners who want a versatile single tool capable of handling both routine trimming and crisp lawn edging around sidewalks and driveways.

A key feature is the PowerCommand dial, which allows you to switch between maximum power for tackling dense weeds and maximum runtime for trimming longer sections of lawn. The PowerDrive transmission efficiently transfers motor power to the 13-inch cutting swath, achieving motor speeds up to 8500 RPM for fast cutting. Line feed hassles are minimal thanks to the automatic feed spool system, which advances line automatically as needed without requiring you to stop and bump the trimmer head.

User comfort and physical adjustability are central to the overall design. The telescoping pole adjusts to fit different user heights, while the soft-grip auxiliary handle and safety guard give you steady control during longer landscaping tasks. An integrated state of charge indicator on the battery keeps you informed of your power status while working. When you finish, the included LCS40 fast charger recharges the LBX2040 battery back to full power in two hours or less.

Regarding trade-offs, relying heavily on the high power setting will drain the 2.0Ah battery faster than using the extended runtime mode. Because the kit includes a single battery, larger yards may require taking a break for the two-hour charge cycle unless a secondary 40V MAX battery is on hand. The tool also relies specifically on AF-100 spools for line replacement.

Verdict: The BLACK+DECKER LST136 is an excellent choice for homeowners looking for a lightweight, bump-free trimming and edging experience. Its adjustable pole height, quick conversion mechanism, and adjustable power dial make it a dependable pick for standard lawn care.
