Makita XRU23Z 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 13" String Trimmer, Tool Only

The Makita XRU23Z 18V LXT Cordless 13-Inch String Trimmer is an electric yard care tool built for homeowners who want to maintain grass and weeds without handling fuel. By running on battery power, it eliminates gas emissions, oil mixing, and hard pull starts, making routine yard maintenance cleaner and quieter.

At the heart of the trimmer is a brushless motor that delivers up to 6,000 RPM for fast cutting action. Users can control that output using both a dedicated High/Low power management button and a variable speed trigger. The High/Low button allows you to balance cutting force against battery consumption, while the variable speed trigger gives fine control over head speed when working near delicate garden borders or fence lines.

Because this is sold as a tool-only model, the primary trade-off is that you must already own or separately purchase a Makita 18V LXT battery and charger. Achieving up to one hour of continuous run time requires an 18V LXT 4.0Ah battery. Additionally, the product listing does not state the total tool weight or string line diameter, so buyers needing those specific measurements will need to verify them before purchasing.

Verdict: This cordless string trimmer is ideal for property owners who are already invested in the Makita 18V LXT battery platform and want a low-maintenance lawn tool. It offers straightforward speed control and quiet operation without the hassle of gas engine upkeep.
