Detailed Review
The BLACK+DECKER BESTA510 is a corded electric 2-in-1 string trimmer and lawn edger designed for homeowners who need to tidy up yard borders and cut down stubborn weeds. Powered by a 6.5-amp motor, this tool targets grass and overgrowth in tight spots along fences, flower beds, and sidewalks where standard lawn mowers cannot cut.
Transitioning between trimming and edging is straightforward: rotating the head converts the tool into a wheeled edger. The integrated wheel guide supports the unit along sidewalk edges and flower bed borders for straight, controlled cutting. For continuous work, the built-in Automatic Feed Spool technology feeds line automatically, eliminating the need to bump the head against the ground while working.
With a 14-inch cut path, the trimmer covers broad sections of your yard efficiently. The 6.5-amp motor works alongside a POWERDRIVE transmission to cut through thick grass and weeds. To help reduce fatigue during longer tasks, the handle and overall height are adjustable, while the cord retention system keeps your power cord securely connected as you move.
Because this model is corded electric, your reach is limited by the length of your extension cord and proximity to electrical outlets. Managing a power cord around yard obstacles is a necessary trade-off for continuous power. Additionally, the listing does not state the exact weight in pounds or include an extension cord in the package.
Verdict: The BLACK+DECKER BESTA510 is a practical choice for homeowners who want an electric trimmer and edger for routine yard maintenance. Its automatic line feed and simple rotation mechanism make border cleanup straightforward without gas or battery management.
