EGO POWER+ Chain Saw, 20” Battery Powered Chainsaw, Electric Cordless, Includes 56V 6.0Ah Battery and Charger – CS2005

The EGO POWER+ CS2005 cordless chainsaw is built for heavy-duty outdoor cutting without relying on gas. Equipped with a 20-inch bar and a full chisel tooth chain, this tool targets property owners and landowners needing to fell tall trees, take down thick branches, and clear out stubborn stumps.

At the core of the saw is a high-efficiency brushless motor that matches the output of a 55cc gas engine, driving the chain at speeds up to 25 m/s for quick, clean cuts. Power comes from an included 56V 6.0Ah ARC Lithium battery, which provides up to 135 cuts on 6x6 timber on a single charge. The saw is also cross-compatible with any battery in the EGO 56V system, making it easy to swap power sources if you already own tools from the line.

Operational controls are streamlined through an onboard digital display that keeps critical information front and center. You can select speed modes, monitor real-time battery status, and verify the safety brake indicator at a glance. For low-light situations or emergency storm cleanup at dusk, an integrated front LED work light illuminates the cut path, while IPX4-rated weather resistance protects internal components during unexpected damp weather.

As for trade-offs, working through extensive clearing projects requires monitoring battery reserves or having extra 56V packs ready, as runtime is capped at the battery charge limit. Additionally, the 20-inch bar and heavy-duty 3/8-inch pitch chain with 69 drive links are optimized for large-diameter cutting rather than quick, lightweight yard trimming, and the listing does not mention the overall weight of the tool assembled with the battery.

Verdict: This chainsaw is an ideal match for homeowners needing heavy gas-equivalent cutting power without dealing with fuel mixing or pull cords. Its combination of a 20-inch cutting bar, smart digital interface, and solid runtime makes clearing trees and heavy timber straightforward.
